Certified Renewable Energy

Supporting Renewable Electricity with Energy Attribute Certificates

Alongside onsite solar generation, A.C. Manufacturing Ltd supports renewable electricity consumption through Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs).

As part of the wider Lindab Ireland renewable energy programme, certified renewable electricity is secured through partnership with Becour, ensuring that electricity used across operations is matched with verified renewable energy supplied to the grid.

Through the purchase of Energy Attribute Certificates, every unit of electricity consumed can be matched with certified renewable electricity generation. This provides independent, verifiable confirmation that renewable energy has been produced and added to the grid, supporting Lindab’s Scope 2 decarbonisation goals.

What Are Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs)?

Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs) are recognised instruments used to track and verify renewable electricity production. Each certificate represents proof that one megawatt-hour (MWh) of renewable electricity has been generated and supplied to the electricity grid.

By securing EACs linked to verified renewable energy sources, organisations can transparently demonstrate that their electricity consumption supports renewable power generation.

At A.C. Manufacturing, EACs complement onsite solar energy generation, helping ensure that electricity consumption is aligned with renewable energy production.

Renewable Energy Source

The renewable electricity certificates supporting Lindab Ireland operations are linked to the Borgund Hydropower Plant in Lærdal, Norway.

Operated by Østfold Energi, the facility generates more than 985 GWh of renewable electricity annually.

In addition to producing clean energy, Borgund Hydropower Plant supports environmental initiatives including river restoration and salmon habitat projects, demonstrating how renewable energy production can coexist with biodiversity protection.
